We will have the excursion to watch KUSAFUGU's spawning at the seashore named ARAI-HAMA in the top of MIURA Peninsula on June 22th (Friday), 2012. And we will go on the excursion, rain or shine.

KUSAFUGU is one of pufferfishes (one of popular Japanese globe fishes). Its scientific name is "Takifugu niphobles JORDAN et SNYDER" which is called commonly Grass puffer. Usually KUSAFUGU lives in shallow sea near the coast around Japanese islands, and a large school of KUSAFUGU comes to the seashore and spawns on the beach at the time of the full tide in two or three days after of the full moon or the new moon from the latter half of May to the first half of July in every year.

In the summer of 2010, Dr. Daisuke Kurokawa, Assistant professor of the University of Tokyo joined the excursion.

In the summer of 2007, Prof. Chris Todd, professor of Marine Ecology in University of St. Andrews, Scotland, UK visited the seashore of Araihama to watch Kusafugu's spawning.
